HIGH PROTEIN BAKED FALAFELS

 

When looking for a high protein plant based ingredient, chickpeas often come to mind. Here is our happy, healthy take on traditional middle eastern food using chickpeas as the main ingredient. While these protein packed dynamites are usually deep fried, we thought baking them would definitely be a better choice! The addition of almond butter packs in even more plant protein.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of boiled chickpeas

3/4 tsp baking powder

1 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp sesame seeds

1/2 cup cilantro

2 tsp Almond Butter, unsweetened creamy (increase for extra protein)

1/2 tsp cumin powder,

1/2 coriander powder

Salt, to taste

METHOD:

  1. Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend into fine paste.
  2. Make round balls and refrigerate them for an hour.
  3.  Bake for 25 mins at 200 C
  4. Serve with hummus and pita. Enjoy
